Learn Why the Motif Curve Breast Pump Might Be the Best Choice

We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post.

This is the Motif Curve double electric breast pump. I’m gonna open it up and see it’s in the packing, which is actually pretty secure. I actually really like how they packaged this for shipping.

As most of us know, some of the stuff comes to you and you and it’s all beat up. This is actually very nice. As you can see, the back of the box is very detailed. It has a lot of good information on it. So, I guess now, we’re just gonna go ahead and open it up!

What’s Inside?

Alright I have the box open now. Let’s go ahead and pull out this bag. I do like the bag. It’s very sturdy. Very nice and as you can see, it’s got a nice full strap. You can even put some diapers in here if you needed to.

The front pocket right here, opens up. Be kind of nice, you can stick your cellphone in there or whatever other little thing you need, maybe a wallet. But as I open the bag, I’m immediately gonna pull this out. Alright, gonna make it everything right out. Then we’ll go over everything.

Everything is packaged very neatly, actually. Ooh, this is nice. This is the motor and it is definitely, definitely portable. I’ve got these. Of course, we’ve got our handy manual which we will be going over, and a cooler, definitely important.

Breastpump Assembly

Now I’m gonna arrange everything and then we can go over it and really look at everything. Okay, so here we have one fully assembled and here I’ve kind of taken it apart so we can see all the pieces.

Alright, of course, you have the connector. Okay, so this is the diaphragm. It simply goes in the connector, and you wanna make sure that, that’s on there. And then you wanna take the diaphragm cover, and you wanna place it, your tubing will actually connect to this.

Alright, and then we have the massage shield, and that goes in like so, and there’s a little lid right there. Just make sure that’s on there. And then we have the hygiene cover, and that goes over here. It protects everything, especially after you’ve cleaned it.

And then, right in here, you see the valve, and then there’s also a membrane in there. These are all pieces that you definitely wanna wash, and so I’m gonna go ahead and go take care of that right now.

Okay, right here we have the storage containers. Obviously, they’re bottles as well, and you have nipples on it, but we’re not gonna use that for the actual pump, but that’s definitely very beneficial. Now, right here is the connector for the tubing, so you wanna take the tubing right here, and it says the tube cannot be sterilized or washed.

The water left in the tube might destroy the motor part. So that’s very important to keep in mind. And what we’re gonna do, is I’m gonna take this long one, and connect it securely right there on the connector. And then they have one for each side. Oops. One for each side.

Alright, and what we will do from here is you’ll take your sterilized piece and you will simply connect the tubing there. Now if you’re gonna do a double pump, you’ll obviously connect the tubing on the other one as well, as so.

And then what you will do, is connect it to the storage container. And you can set it in this nifty container holder. Just kind of sets everything up in it, keeps everything from falling down, getting dirty or, you know, being unsterilized. Okay.

Super-Protable!

This is the USB cord and this is the power adapter. Everything is super-portable, actually, like the sizing of it. It came in this bag right here, which you can always put it back in for extra storage. Now, I’m gonna take this and plug it up.

Alright, very important, we wanna definitely connect the tubing into the actual pump motor, which has a nice LCD screen. My pumps may have been a little bit older, but we didn’t have that, and they were much heavier.

And here you have a power button, and you will obviously just press this. I have not charged it but it shows the charging symbol right there, so it is charging right now. Therefore, you can take it without having to take the adapter if you need to.

That is on, and that is Level One, and as we can see the diaphragm is moving. It’s the lowest level, but it goes all the way up to Level Nine, and all you have to do is technology, so it’d light up and it’s four, five, six. Let’s see. And it automatically starts the letdown. And this is like super-easy to control the levels. And it makes it really versatile.

Okay, so I think that’s really nice, and very portable and I can definitely see the diaphragm moving at a different pace than one. And it really just depends on your comfortability and what works for you. But, this is definitely versatile.

How It Works

Now this little connector is really nifty because when you have it right there in the middle, both of these are gonna be pumping. So both of these are gonna be working. But let’s say I switch it to this one when it’s connected to this, only this one will work, but it can still be connected. Now if I switch it the other way, you see that one starts goin’. Super nifty.

I also wanna point out that you barely hear this motor. I don’t know if you’ve tried many breast pumps, but they get loud, like really loud. This is actually really nice.

I wanted to point out that in most of breast pump manuals and what not, you will find storage, for breast milk, and that’s very important. Anything that explains to you how long, and it varies depending on what you read, but always read the whole manual. But this is overall, this is a really easy pump to manage and to read.

It’s been a couple of years since I’ve delved into pumps, and I can tell you this was an easy one. I actually, really, really enjoyed the LCD screen, how minimal noise it makes, the bags are actually quite fashionable for some of the breast pump bags, ’cause trust me, some of them are huge guys, and you might as well be carrying a duffle bag, and this one actually looks like a purse and could double as a diaper bag. Most of us moms have done that before, a lot of times, because you don’t want carry a huge bag and then a diaper bag and then all kinds of other stuff, if you’re out and on the run. So I definitely like the storage.

This is the cooler. I actually don’t think it’s a bad size, and it’ll definitely fit two of the milk storage bags. And, of course, it comes with a nice ice pack. Of course, you can put whatever ice pack you want in it, as long as it fits, but it never hurts when they actually come with it. And there’s the actual inside of it.

I wanted to point out that I’ve only had it plugged up for 20 minutes, and I’ve already got two bars of battery. Like that’s not bad at all guys. I’m the worst about remembering to plug something up, and I always remember last minute so this is kind of, I was really impressed by that. Really, really impressed actually.

Well I went to go and put everything up and I totally forgot the lanyard. Okay, if you’re like me, anything about this size will be dropped, especially if you already have older children, it happens. So you can attach this to it.

Alright guys, I’m not even gonna joke about it. I had the mom guard with this, with the bobby pin, because this was the most difficult task of this whole pump. Of course, I’m not the best with these little pieces, but it’s on there and it’s detachable.

I can’t lie, this is a very nice feature. Just snap it on, wear it around your neck and how versatile is that? That’s so nice. Look, and it is down about waist size. I think that’s perfect. I like this a lot actually.

The suction is really good, I have to say, and I definitely think for the price of $175, you really can’t beat this. My other two pumps were upwards of $400 and one of them barely worked, and the other one took me a very long time to express milk and I was doing it properly. It was not the best suction and it only had like two modes, three actually, if I remember correctly.

They also give you two extra valves, and can’t forget those. Always nice with the storage systems. And they give you everything you need, really they do. Again, I just really wanted to point out how nice this actual bag is. If you get it wet, I’m sure it won’t do any damage, because it’s very nice material.

Actually hangs exactly where a purse would, and I do think it’s big enough to carry a few diapers, and wipes and you’ll be set! And a change of clothes for baby ’cause we all know that happens all the time. Spit-up happens, and other things so, nothing like it! I just wanted to point that out.
